Is he a bona fide serial killer?
And then the larger question.
If so, where are their remains?
Is it possible to uncover a truth that has remained hidden for the last 26 years and finally send them home?
This investigation has been challenging in so many ways as I've been pulled in multiple different directions and have been repeatedly pushed back by key witnesses being dead.
But from within the mess, there have been some revelations.
And possibly, the biggest of these is the discovery of Gus, and the possibility that he may have been involved in the disappearance of Ann Glasser.
Ann's case mirrors Selina's in the way that there is virtually no physical evidence.
There's nothing to go on.
so I believe we must consider any possible lead with an open mind.
We've heard extensively from Debbie and Ian, two key witnesses who believed at the time, and still do today, that it is Gus and not Derek Sam that is responsible.
But the reality is that there really is only one way to form a genuine opinion, and that's to speak to the man himself.
Gus, not his real name, has been an enigma for decades.
Anyone I've spoken to that knew him has told me they have no idea where he is and haven't seen him for an incredibly long time.
His own family weren't even sure if he was alive, let alone where he was.
However, there was speculation that if he were still alive, he would likely be living in the country of his birth, New Zealand.
And this is good news, because that's my home turf.
And if we're going to find someone, New Zealand is the place to do it.
So armed with his real name, we went to work.
And sure enough, eventually, after many dead ends and rabbit holes, we came up with an address that we felt the most confident could be his.
