For the first time in modern history, Utah has a safe Democratic-leaning congressional district.
Voters in Salt Lake City and surrounding suburbs overwhelmingly decided to send former Congressman Ben McAdams back to Washington.
McAdams is considered a moderate Democrat.
He beat out two other progressive candidates in the race.
While he will face a general election in November, the makeup of the district all but ensures a McAdams win.
On the Republican side, all three congressional incumbents will keep their jobs.
Both Congresswoman Celeste Malloy and Congressman Blake Moore pulled victories against candidates to their right.
