The company, Platform Ventures, said in a statement that it is not actively engaged in discussions with the U.S.

government over the sale of the large warehouse in an industrial area of Kansas City.

Federal agents toured the warehouse last month to potentially turn it into an immigrant detention center.

It's part of the Trump administration's broader plans to open up more of those facilities across the country.

Kansas City Mayor Quentin Lucas said in a statement he'll continue efforts to ensure no such facility opens in the city.

Last month, the city council passed a ban on any permits for a non-municipal detention facility within city limits.
