That started from a small gesture from Paddy Cripps and Lilo Sullivan at the footy club to how they could support me and how they could support Peter Mack, who were looking after me, which then turned into a small group of my friends at the club, a small group of friends outside the club, which turned into... I don't even know how many people shaved their heads, but it was down to 10-year-old, 8-year-old, 6-year-olds giving their pocket money up for the week and spending $5 to show me that they cared.

philanthropy game in at peter mack now being a board member of the foundation most of those large-scale donation um runs come from big funders they come from 50 grand checks to be able to get up to the 250 sort of grand um total this was this was a community-led thing that was centered around me and i got to be the focus point of it which was absolutely amazing and i'm very grateful to be that person that got to experience that moment but just so thankful for the wider carlton community afl community and and footy club to be able to support me through that time

Yeah, well, it's not every part of your journey goes right.
And I went to the football club up there at that time and injured straight off the bat, had hip surgery as soon as I got there and then didn't play out as well as I would have thought and hoped.
And from the club's perspective, probably the same.
And then got to shift back to the full circle moment.
It's funny looking back at photos and seeing you at the clinics that you're then that player doing it for other kids.
It's amazing to kind of look back and see the memories in there.

I interviewed with about five clubs when I was coming back to Melbourne and all for varying reasons, I didn't choose them.
And ultimately, I sat down in a room with Andy McKay, who was the list boss at the time, and Mick Malthouse around a table and had a coffee.
