A ramp-up stage, and that's why I wanted to preface it by saying you could really get lost by reading too much into what goes on over the weekend at rookie camp.
I think the fact he played so many snaps shows that he is.
I mean, he could pretty easily tap his helmet and call himself out and say, I'm gassed, because I thought it looked like he was gassed.
Yes, I think he's using this purposefully and saying, I've got to be ready for when the vets arrive.
I've got to be ready for when the pads come on 10 days into camp, whatever it is.
I think he's thinking, this is better for me to stay out here, even if it means I might get beat.
I was going to say, that'll be something that doesn't show up during camp, right?
That needs to wait until the games arrive, really, because that's the biggest difference between camp now and even five years ago, but especially 10 years ago is –
the physical players don't get to show everything they have during this time of camp.
So that's why it's really hard to judge like R. Mason Thomas or Peter Woods.
And that's why I meant by evaluating a quarterback would be great, but second might be cornerback because when the Chiefs have picked Felix Enrique Uzama, when they picked Josh Simmons, and a lot of – obviously Xavier Worthy was sandwiched between there.
But when you pick –
You sort of have to wait until the linemen get to one-on-one days later.
And even then, it's such a small sample size of reps.
You can still get something from them.
But it's not near to the extent of watching a cornerback every single play, trying to defend the play as though the ball is going to be coming to him.
I will say, Mansford Delane seems to have a...
recognition of the rest of the field uh and i actually wonder if steve spagnuolo you know appreciates that or is going to try and coach a little bit of that adam and the short term because his eyes are frequently on the quarterback as he's defending you know he's not just a guy who just as great as trent mcduffie was i think his eyes were locked on the receiver right that's why
Great coverage guy, not a lot of interceptions.
It's not like he had his eyes in the backfield a lot.
