That's my big community piece.

And in a way, doing that every week, that builds, that gives me enormous sustenance and energy.

It is a great privilege just to be with Australian citizens every

wherever they are, I do get to do some extraordinary things and to see us at our very best and to be involved in moments that are truly astonishing for our country.

It is an all-consuming job, as I hope all Australians would expect someone in this role.

You need to have energy and, I think, enthusiasm and optimism, but be very practical.

I keep fit.

I do quite a bit of walking around these gardens and in Canberra.

But I do... My downtime...

I will do things like I'm a knitter and a bit of a craft person, so I will sit and almost in a meditation to sort of reflect on what I see and to unpack it all so I know what it is I'm actually showing up to do every day.

But I do surround my... I read prodigiously.

I fill these houses with books.

I hope people come and pick the books up and also read books

I spend time around art and galleries, museums, libraries.

I'm the patron of so many extraordinary cultural organisations that my cup is filled most days by just the sheer privilege of the job.

And my intention is just to be available all the time for all Australians.

And I have to be ready, as all former Governors-General have been, for moments when I need to show up authentically ready.

in the moment in a community and I want all Australians to know that's what I will always do, showing respect to everybody in our community and hoping that we can have the great conversations and come to understand one another and learn from one another because I think we are living in the most successful

democracy in the world.

And I treasure that and I take great energy from that, from every part of the job.
