And so she went on Fox too yesterday to apologize to Metro Detroit's Middle Eastern community.
As she put it, she has Arabic tattoos.
She has two Arabic tattoos.
So, you know, uh, she, she, um,
Said what I think a lot of people think, but Sam, this is this is what I was going to ask you.
Yeah, I mean, it's a sentiment held by some older folks.
You know, there is a longstanding tension between Detroit's majority black community and its Arab Muslim neighbors.
You can go to the west side, closer to Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, where they live together.
And the east side, off Seven Mile, there's a pretty fair Bengali community that lives door to door to African-American families.
And so, yeah, it's been a long thing in Metro Detroit.
A lot is talked about Dearborn.
But, you know, we live amongst each other in the same communities.
And there are moments when the tension bubbles up.
I think Angie Smith's comments were one of those moments.
Haley Stevens's campaign, of course, condemned the comments.
I think the comment that she made last night at 1030 said,
PM on Twitter accusing El-Sayed of blaming all of his problems on Jewish Americans.
You know, I don't think that really helps when talking about this conversation of the tension between Detroit, Metro Detroit's Jewish and Muslim communities.
You know, it's certainly an ongoing issue.
