you could, yeah, you just, you know, you're still going to work and shit, still turning up, still doing everything else, beautiful little girl, yeah, I think, I think we've, we've, we've gotten to a point where we're all well aware that people are taking their own lives, and I think,

My personal thoughts are, is that we need to start now looking at the whys and putting energy and effort into those.

So if those, obviously, because I advocate for sexual violence, I know that with sexual violence and suicide, you're 10 times more likely to take your own life and 11 times more likely to die of an intentional overdose.

And then you look at other mitigating factors into suicide.

So things like relationship breakdowns, financial stress and pressure,

So if we're looking outside of the โ€“ because suicide's the end.

It's like the โ€“ it's the side effect, eh?

It's not the cause of the โ€“ that's not an illness.

What was the leading up to that sort of thing?

It's a complex, complex situation.

And more walking, less talking sort of thing.

Like, yeah, over the last month, you know, doing my trip around the South Island for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and connecting with community and other advocates and stuff, I went to a few different men's groups and

And every time I leave the group, no matter what the demographic is there, and most of them it's a very broad demographic, it's cool.

You get all sorts of ethnicities, sexualities, and walks of life in this room for an hour and a half, two hours, having a kai and having a yarn.

But I always notice that there's always a couple of people in the group that I see or listen to their korero, and I know that without that group,

those men wouldn't be there, you know?
