So I am Samantha Asher.
I am in Highland Park, Illinois, and the name of my private practice is Greenlight Speech and Language Services.
And we'll also
So I actually started my career in a
skilled nursing facility.
And I say, actually, because now I primarily treat children and the idea for private practice came to me when I received a promotion that I was so excited about, but was told it was entitled only meaning you get more work, but you do not get paid more.
And the wheels really started turning there.
I got a little more experience in the field, started working with children, which is why I originally went into the field.
And once I had my daughter, I really wanted to make sure I had freedom.
And I also wanted to be able to make the money I needed to give her everything that she wanted and do everything I wanted to do with her.
So I started pursuing private practice and I just signed up for independent clinician, kind of didn't have really anything else prepared.
But I got started and I kept moving forward.
I love that so much.
And
I think of
big, big part of it was safety and security.
So I wasn't sure what was happening with my job.
At the time I was working for early intervention in the state and I enjoyed the role, but it was in homes and it was in homes all over the city of Philadelphia where I was living at the time.
They didn't know if they were gonna keep all the speech therapists or fire them.
And I wasn't sure what my obligation was gonna be in terms of going into a home without proper protection.
