But the way the law is written, you have to make your wine, if you want to label with the Rocks District, you need to make that wine in the state of Oregon.
Well, if you're a Washington producer,
your winery is on the Washington side of that border.
So as soon as you bring those grapes across the border, you have to label as Walla Walla because it's cross-border AVA.
And that means that if you truck grapes all the way to the Willamette Valley, you're going...
It's probably, okay, so four hours to Portland and then another hour and a half down to Willamette Valley or hour down, more or less five hours away.
You're trucking five hours to get to a winery, make the wine there, and you can label Rocks District.
But if you drive 10 minutes across the border into Washington and make the wine right there, you cannot label without ABA.
And it's also, I think that probably the most famous Rocks District producer
is Christophe Baron, who has Cayuse.
And he doesn't label as the Rocks District.
He could.
His winery is there.
He says it's because he hates the name of the ABA, when I've talked to him before.
He says it's not Rocks.
It's Stones.
