It's absolutely essential.
He is a figurehead in their offense, whether or not he makes the shots because they need that usage because the early returns, I mean, Grady is having a shocker of a start to the season.
Jacoby wasn't expected to give you a bunch of offensively.
They haven't been able to look down the roster and be like, okay, we're going to get more usage from X and Y. They just stack all of the usage in their main four guys.
And they ask everyone to kind of fit in around that.
And as crazy as it is,
none of those four guys there's basically no overlap in skill set it is one of the most unique offensive ecosystems in the nba and when they were healthy they were the second best half court in the league rj barrett they immediately stopped becoming a high drive team they immediately become the highest volume mid-range shooting team and you see ecosystem is a huge thing it's fragile it's fragile
And Grady, I think he was averaging like 18 or 19 points per game through the first 30 games.

And Ingram, the big difference is Ingram has that level of off-screen usage, but he also has far more handoff usage.
And while Ingram, his pick and roll, I guess, frequency has definitely dipped and the efficiency has dipped,
he's still getting about middle-of-the-pack pick-and-roll possessions as relative to the rest of the league.
But you're correct to notice there's a huge overlap in play design between what Grady had at the start of last season and what Ingram has now.
And actually, it leaves a little bit to be desired, I think.
What's your takeaway in that regard of maximizing Brandon Ingram in this offense?
That's a really interesting insight.
So some stats to back up that point is Ingram, his last year in LA, basically has three assists and three turnovers per game.
One-to-one assist-to-turnover ratio.
That's when the heliocentricity stuff really started getting its footing, and we start to see other teams try and match this heavy pick-and-roll, one guy making progressive reads.
And you see he goes, you know, four assists to 2.9 turnovers.
