Lando Norris has come out and said this.
The thing that's a shame is that Formula One's gone too heavily led by the fact it's a business nowadays and not how you can make the sport the best possible.
He's saying it's how you can just make the most money as a business and that's not what it should simply be.
That's not how a sport should be run.
What do you think of these comments?
Yeah, making money, obviously, is an essential part of any business.
But at what point does it stretch beyond, okay, we have quite literally got billions and billions and billions of dollars.
Formula One's valuation, I think, is 10 times what it was 10 years ago when Liberty Media bought out Formula One from Bernie.
So at what point do they sit there and go, well, not only have we made back our investment, we made it back tenfold.
when do we need to start prioritizing the product as being a genuinely enjoyable sport rather than just the financial capabilities of what we're able to achieve as this goliath enterprise now of entertainment there was a time you know 10 years ago where something like the dallas cowboys was higher value than ferrari and that's very much flipped now you know ferrari's formula one team i think is estimated to be worth about 10 billion dollars which is excruciatingly painful how expensive that would be to go buy that out now at what point is that all right we have enough money
And I think Landon Norris is coming from a very, very sound and fair point.
A driver who is winning, is on the podium regularly, who is fighting the current world champion, is the one turning around and saying, at what point do you need to stop thinking only about cash?
And actually think about the fact that, you know, we've got drivers who want to enjoy themselves.
We've got fans who want to see drivers having fun and fighting and being close.
And it's exciting, not just creating a system that makes more money.
It just becomes a bit hilarious at that point, I suppose.

I know that he'll cite things like, you know, sprint races having increased watch viewership, then a practice session.
Well, yeah, obviously that's just, you know, the absolute basics of what's going on here.
But I think you are right that he's refusing to admit that he's made a mistake or Formula One has made a mistake in the direction that it's gone down.
