I've just had a text from a friend who's in Sydney.
who sent me these pictures of these sacred ibises in Sydney, and she says, aren't they amazing?
And I said, yeah, yeah, they're so common there that they call them bin chickens.
Yeah, I mean, they're proper ibises.
They look gorgeous, like Egyptian things you've seen on hieroglyphs.
And I love that the rarity is completely in the eye of the beholder.

know they're sort of proud of them yeah yeah yeah i've got two daughters 11 and eight odd names but there you are and we've uh we've got them into birding such that now they know that if they confuse a coop with a moorhen i'm going to sell them yeah but but i think we just sort of
We don't worry too, because we do go twitching and I've sort of sat waiting for a bird to show while they've played in the mud or in the sand and they come back fairly filthy and sometimes they even see the bird and I've even started a life list for them now.
I'm not pushing it too hard.
But it is quite a nice day out, even if it includes a bit of, you know, if you're on a stakeout, it can include a bit of waiting around.
Yeah, patience.
It'll be worth it in the end.
But we've had some very good times.
