In 2015, clinical psychologist Lindsay Gibson wrote a book called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents.
It didn't make much of a splash at the time, but five years later during the pandemic, it went viral.
And then a few years after that, it hit the New York Times bestseller list.
When we had you on about, I think it's, gosh, five years ago now to talk about that book, it was our highest rating episode ever.
And I think it remains so.
Which makes me sort of wonder, do the vast majority of us just have bad or somewhat crappy parents?
What do you put the virality of the book down to?
So Lindsay is now turning her attention to the next generation of parents, and she wants to help people learn how to raise emotionally mature children.
She's got a few key mindsets she thinks are important for raising emotionally mature kids.
And if all else fails, she has a few absolutes to remember for what not to do during your parenting journey.
And I have to say, one of these absolutes inspired big feelings of my own.
That one made me a little bit angry, if I'm to be honest, because I was like, wait, what?
Then we are doing parenting totally wrong.
