Definitely have an advantage where quiet vacationing is a lot easier.
She basically cleared with her boss to move her workday up.
So rather than 8 to 4, 9 to 5, which it normally was,
She moved it from 6 a.m.
to 2.30 p.m., and she kind of knew that working earlier in the day, she would have less to do at that time because that's an easier shift at her job.
After 2.30, when she logged off, she got to enjoy her California resort and go by the pool and enjoy the location she was in.
So basically, she just worked earlier in the day and then after got to actually vacation and get paid for the whole day.
She actually didn't clear the fact that she was quiet vacationing with her boss, but she asked her boss if she could move her workday up.
But he was not aware that she was doing this quiet vacation.
It really depends on the boss.
If you mention that you're working remotely from a vacation spot or just a different location than where you're normally based, bosses are typically fine with that as long as you're still working your full eight hours or whatever your full workday is.
But lines can definitely get blurred because some quiet vacationers are working significantly less than they would on a normal workday where they're only putting in one or two hours of work.
Bosses would not be fine with that if they found out.
Also, some jobs do have set parameters that you're supposed to be working within remotely when it comes to location.
And so if you're working outside the country or outside the state in an unauthorized area, that would be an issue, especially for tax purposes.
It really just depends on the boss.
Some may just have a conversation with you and ask you what happened.
Some workplaces are kind of on the cutting edge of this where they're predicting that people are doing this and they've implemented nomad policies at their work where
You are allowed to work remotely from across the country, but you have to state that you are in an online portal at the beginning of the day.
So different employers are really at different stages with accepting quiet vacationing and the way that they perceive it.
