If it wasn't for these emails from this one person.

And so I, you know, sometimes the criticism is right and it's changed.

Again, I don't get it right all the time.

I play metal.

So a lot of the metal I play is just angry dudes who have politics that I hate, but I love the music.

So I just play it anyway, but I work much, much harder.

But more importantly, I work much differently now in how I find those songs.

That's right.

But also, and I think, Sarah, you would have had this experience doing it, it's what's the assignment?

Like, what is the actual assignment?

And if the actual assignment is just to play songs they know and like for a while, and then that number will get smaller and smaller, and if that's the assignment, cool.

But that's not what I think the assignment should be for an alternative station, particularly.

Your assignment is to make your community better.

But moreover, and I remember when I got to Hockey Night in Canada, I had the same problem, because...

Actually, I was told by the guy who fired me that the ratings went up with people under 30 and women when I was the host.

And I remember saying to them, never mind that it's the right thing to do part, but just for business, why are you trying to ignore half the audience?

Don't you want to double your ratings?

Don't you want to make more money?

Don't you want to reach more?

Like if you don't want to do it for the right reasons, do it for the business reasons.
