Like what's the incentive to change?
Why would you leave fine?
But you might never know you're missing out on amazing things.
But it was also a really interesting turning point in my life.
ego wise yeah I'd had such a good reputation as a lawyer and you appear smart you know you don't have to explain to anyone that you're successful when you just say you just say I'm a lawyer and the title everything that comes with it totally is automatically ascribed to who you are you can walk into a room and people can situate you whereas startup land especially in 2014 was very tenuous and
very, you know, especially the connotations with social media was sort of like, what are you doing?
Like so many people around me were like, you're walking away from prestige.
And I had an even, there were even bigger stakes at the time because I had secured this incredible role with the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia.
So the most senior judge and legal figure in the court system in this country, like six people every year get to do it.
And I was meant to start at the start of the next year, which was the same time I was going to leave.
And my ego wanted that.
My ego was like, I want everyone to know I got that, that I'm that smart and that, you know, I was one of the six, but I can't do both.
It's the first time, the fork in the road.
It's mutually exclusive.
And yeah, I had to strip back a lot of why do I think I need that?
It was I want to be able to say I did it.
But it's not necessarily fulfilling.
