I think what was great about that show is what Miranda was so brave about is that came out at the time of The Office and everything where people were like, no, we want observational comedy.

We don't want this.

And she said, I want to make a trad sitcom, a studio sitcom in reverence to Morecambe and Wise.

And that's what she wanted to make.

And at the time, I'd just finished filming the second series of Moving Wallpaper, which was quite an observational... Another one I loved, actually.

And it was very observational, very much reverential... It was a sort of TV show within a TV show kind of thing, yeah.

And it was very observational and very low-key, and so it felt quite weird to me to be doing this.

We did the first studio record and the audience went bananas.

And I remember thinking, well, she's obviously got all her friends in and her relatives.

And she went, no, I haven't.

I haven't got anybody in.

And I was like, well, people absolutely love that.

And then it grew quite quickly.
