We did have one during the All-Ireland series last year when we were in Dublin.
Poor Mark Sidebottom, who was doing the pitch side role, he was sick on the Sunday.
He'd been with us on the Saturday, it was like doubleheader.
And so he couldn't arrive down on the Sunday.
And so we had no pitch side reporter and we had Muggsy and Deveny.
And we basically, Niall, the producer, just turned to me and he said, we're just going to throw to them the two.
And I was like, what, the two of them on their own?
Well, they had an earpiece, but like no kind of concept of... No adult supervision.
Nobody telling them to rap, you know, throw back, you know, you bust your time, whatever.
And so we did and they were brilliant.
Of course they were.
They are great, you know.
His questioning is brilliant.
Yeah, there's a little bit of fear of that, isn't there?
You know, there's a fear of something that might be push the boundaries.
And, you know, maybe the fear comes from a place, I think, where they think, oh, we'll get in trouble or something like that or something will go wrong.
But I think live TV is the best because something can go wrong all the time.
should go wrong and it should go wrong and it's really funny when it does go wrong but it's how you react and if you don't have people who think that's funny and then get really kind of caught up over it being wrong then suddenly the audience don't enjoy it because they're like oh whereas if you had somebody in control that embraces that chaos then then the audience enjoy it you know yeah I'm waiting for my call come on get me please will.slattery at independent.ie if anyone's out there
