Megan Keller and you know their mother is also a former national team player with the USA so you know there's been an awful lot of kind of talk since and it was interesting because I was kind of noting before I had deleted my ex account because I'm not across this full time you know it's you come in at a big event and you're covering this and I could see then after the event when we're kind of heading home how this was playing out across social media in different kind of ways in terms of
actually where that men's team are potentially politically within the US and how that feeds into kind of the wider discussions you would have there, whether some may be kind of Trump supporters, Republican supporters, but then also kind of the fact that the men's and women's team had been training quite closely together, you know, kind of all kind of part of it, you know, had been kind of celebrating together.
Yes, yeah.
And so I know Hilary Knight, who's been such an instrumental force within women's ice hockey, you know, came out and said, you know, it's disappointing that, you know, they're having to answer questions about...
somebody else's comment that they shouldn't have to kind of answer for.
And some of the players have since kind of come out and spoke because they were invited to the State of the Union.
Some appeared there and they've since kind of been back now to the NHL and are kind of, you know, speaking about the fact that, you know, Jake Sanderson said it was a bit of a mistake.
Jeremy Swayman said we should have acted differently.
And Charlie McAvoy says it's not reflective of how we feel.
And I think perhaps that's what you're kind of getting at is that,
it's a very weird dynamic being in a locker room, being on the president, you know, on the line to the president of the United States.
Yeah.
And it doesn't excuse anything or anything like that.
But it's that wider dynamic, isn't it, about kind of behaviour and how those guys may know that they feel.
Yeah.
around that team.
But that moment and the way it was kind of delivered and that action and how much power you have within it to either say something or to step back.
I just think it's a really interesting kind of... Very much so.
That moment was broadcast when they maybe thought it wasn't going to be and you might behave slightly differently.
Yeah, but it is interesting in terms of the seedings and that draw on how it kind of, you know, we had it last season, didn't we, in terms of actually kind of... You're getting rewarded.
