Either more cheap or more expensive because that's the majority of capitalism is how much money do we want to make on this thing?
What can we make someone pay for it?
But with books...
There is a set price.
publisher that's the other thing is that um when people buy i mean especially like amazon um no one in the publishing industry is making any money either no because they're sold at a loss yes yeah and that's devastating and then it becomes important for like oh the amount of sales so customers are sort of pushed there by the publishing industry because they want to go oh it's this number on amazon or top seller or to gain publicity to then lose everybody money okay and actually
a huge huge amount of difference to where you are on the chart or like a bookshop thinking oh well it's how many they actually print yeah so the thing with pre-sales is they go oh there's this amount of demand we're already on our second print well let's make that print bigger and then they have to sell them so they'll do more PR and marketing and put it into people's hands and one of the things I thought was such a great tip Katie was that um when you send out to bookshops quite often the publishers will put like you know a little gift in there or something
and that they should be practical for booksellers.

They're more expensive to us.
Sainsbury's is getting them really cheap.
Exactly.
Because again, from the publisher's point of view, how incredible to find a new market for books because all they're trying to do is sell more.
But Sainsbury's will be like, you know, it will be such an insultingly small amount so that they can make a profit on it.
She's getting her nappy, she wants a history of Ireland told through maps.
They've all been there.
Her kids are busy looking at the magazine.
