candidates like Abdul El Said in Michigan or Troy Jackson in Maine are badly defeated, then we're less likely to see a a progressive getting to the forefront of the the the the Democratic nominees.
So it'll definitely have an impact there.
I wonder if it might have an impact as well on Republicans and who's likely to inherit the crown.
Uh it's very noticeable that JD Vance is giving a keynote address on Thursday night at this convention before Donald Trump then wraps up with what he promises will be a shorter speech than the one he delivered on Wednesday night.

But Marco Rubio's abroad.
He's not here taking part in this at the moment.
So it's one more event where it looks like J D Vance is being anointed as um Donald Trump's successor, but that's not guaranteed by any means at all.
And of course, you know, a dramatic result in the midterms could have a an an impact on who it is that uh that succeeds Trump as well.
What happens over the next couple of years is going to be absolutely crucial for the the future of American politics for decades to come, I think.
And that's one of the reasons why we should be watching these midterm
elections just as carefully as we're going to, not just because of the consequences it will have for Donald Trump's agenda and what can get through the House and through the Senate, but also it's gonna set the direction um for both parties as we enter the the post Trump era of politics, which uh yeah is a great mystery to all of us at the moment, how that's going to unfold.

Um, she was there when Donald Trump was speaking about Charlie Kirk uh last night.
Uh and she is still a visible presence uh on the political scene.
There hasn't really been a successor though to Charlie Kirk who's come in and taken that mantle and been able to galvanize the movement to the same way that he did and and without a
Charismatic figure like Charlie Kirk himself.
It's difficult to keep the energy going.
