That's pretty clear.
They just don't think there is any electoral advantage in being seen um alongside Donald Trump.
Um remains to be seen whether uh they will be punished for that, um, when it comes to Donald Trump handing out um electoral funds because he has a huge
um tens and tens of millions of dollars that he can spend on some of these um tight races.
But I mean I think it's a very clear sign that yeah, not all Republicans are entirely on board with um this event.
But you probably spotted, Justin, we did get a kind of special guest appearance from a Democratic senator.
A video popped up of John Fetterman, the idiosyncratic Democratic senator from Pennsylvania.
And there he was introducing the Republican senator from Pennsylvania and saying he had chosen to give this video address to a Republican convention because although he was still a Democrat, he stood against any kind of um socialist extremism in America.
And this feeds really neatly into what the Republicans are pushing as uh one of their um lines for the midterm election, which is that the Democrats have now gone so far to the left that they're not even democratic socialists, they're communists essentially.
Um Donald Trump was decrying them as um Marxists and Leninists who wanted to dismantle capitalism and the American way of life last night.
And there you had
John Ferterman, elected Democrat, saying essentially he thinks his party has gone too far as well and giving his tacit support to his um his Republican fellow Senator.
Now, he has told reporters that this doesn't mean that he's about to cross the floor, he's not gonna start voting with the Republicans in the Senate.
if it if it comes down to very tight numbers after the election, he will still be voting as a Democrat.
But uh that will not have made him popular, as you can imagine, among his own party, that uh that he he gave a VIP appearance here in Texas.
It is a very powerful position, as you say, you only need to get reelected every six years.
So that inures you from a lot of the the the day-to-day politics as well.
And that's why it will make a big splash that John Ferterman has done this.
What's been really good about being here for me is not just to get to see Trump making one of his uh classic speeches and uh and the rest of the politicking around, but it's a chance to speak um
