For me, it was a cautious approach where I wanted to get to know somebody, get them to know who I was and to feel safe in that interaction.

When I first came out of the surgery, I literally could not make myself a cup of tea.

I literally could not physically lift a kettle to pour the water into a mug.

That made me feel really vulnerable, I think.

And next thing you know, I'm in a room, camera on me, two-way kind of the blocked off glass.

And it's very American.

It's very different than...

what I expected.

It's really disconcerting.

You can't ask for a break and go to a Costa for a coffee.

You are on a military base.

It was absolute hours.
