It's to move off contracts, but they're not trying to spend a lot of money anyways.
It's about moving guys out and getting value for it.
The value part for me is more important than moving the contract with expedience.
The thing that could change everything is just the overall ambition a lot of teams have and how few options there are on the center market.
So it is going to be fascinating to see if that equation changes in the Canucks' favor in terms of teams maybe being willing to give something to Vancouver of even relative value for them to make that deal.
And I think that's why it's still something to really keep a close eye on over the next few weeks here as an NHL draft is just here a week from now and free agency begins on July 1st.
Now, before we get out and we're going to talk to Kevin Woodley coming up as well.
Let's get to the third wheel.
It's our draft simulator to find out who the Canucks are picking with the third overall selection.
Vic has created a weighted wheel with eight names on it.
Let's spin that wheel.
You know, if you missed our conversation with Will Scouch yesterday, make sure to check it out because we got in depth on a couple of players, one being Ty Lawrence and the other being Keaton Verhoff and really dug into his season and why there could still be a lot of potential there that may have been...
I'd say forgotten about because his finish to the season was not as strong as it was to start the year.
But there's still a lot to like about Keaton Verhoff.
So make sure to check out the podcast if you missed our conversation with Will Scouch.
And we'll be having more draft coverage as the week goes on.
We're going to chat with our good friend Kevin Woodley.
He's coming up next on Canuck Central.
In 4K on his new TV.
It's Canuck Central on Sportsnet 650.
