At the same time, Bergevin himself, as much as he wants to get a job, I've heard he is also very cognizant about which opportunity he takes, because the next time he gets a GM job might be his last chance at being able to hold on to it.
Yeah, I think those are all valid questions about how things are going to play out.
Because part of you as...
as an executive is taking bullets for ownership as well, to some degree.
And I'm not saying that Rutherford hasn't taken bullets, but I think to your point, I think there's been a lot of surprise about how things get twisted sometimes and how your message doesn't come across and how you're just not going to get the benefit of doubt just because you're a Hall of Fame executive again.
Right.
And I think in terms of how you handle all that, it can create some level of discourse throughout an organization, especially if you feel like that everybody is not necessarily not on the same page.
not say you know getting the message straight and how often have we heard about well you said this one thing and then the other thing happened i think consistency is a big part in being able to put together the next front office to some degree and that one you know two ownerships credit and we'll see ultimately to that credit whether they they live up to putting together a front office that that's positive
that they, from what I've heard, are very patient in this process and they want to get this right.
I know Drance also reported that the organization isn't putting a timeline on getting this done in terms of their hires, that they're trying to get this right.
And I think throughout the entire organization, there's been a sense of, let's not make a lot of mistakes we made in the past and let's try to fix things.
At the same time, when you hear certain names and you're kind of questioning, okay, well, is Dorian somebody,
let's say if he gets hired, a guy who's going to have the full-on autonomy?
Or is he comfortable with that?
Or is he going to be somebody, as we saw with Ottawa, who's comfortable working with ownership and going that way if he needs to, to a certain degree?
But one thing that Dorian does have experience with is dealing with the Canadian market.
He's dealing with an owner that doesn't always get a lot of love from the fan base and from the media.
Now, Ottawa's not quite as hot a market as Vancouver is, but
To that point you just made, Dorian could be knocking some of those boxes off as well for the organization.
Yeah, let's hope for some draft lottery luck.
