So anything they do, it comes up, something perks up, right?
And you're not going to be responsible for...
the other business things or other dealings that are non-hockey related if you're the GM or the president of the team.
But to some degree, it comes down to how willing are you to stand there and face defeat and take the fire and be that guy that does it.
And I do wonder if Dorian going through that, that is something that they would value to some degree.
Now, the cynic would say, well, was it just a puppet?
Or did he just want to hire somebody who was a puppet in the past who was willing to just do that again?
That would be a cynical way of looking at it.
I guess the less cynical way is, hey, this might be somebody who is willing to eat the fire in a tough Canadian market where you need that sometimes.
Yeah, no doubt.
And OK, what I have heard, and again, I would not hire Pierre Dorian, right?
Sure.
But apparently, he was impressive throughout the process.
That's kind of been the word, where he showed up prepared, he showed up with good ideas, and he impressed people within the organization.
And that's not to say, again, I wouldn't hire him, but there was something that happened there that, at the very least, brought him to the forefront.
I do think when it comes to... You can't operate your business listening to what fans want day in and day out.
But considering how things have gone in this market over the course of the last little while, I do think the consumer confidence factor does play a part, especially as you're digging into a rebuild right now, which you're already asking fans to be patient and trust you throughout this process.
And if you're presenting somebody that people can't trust, well, it's harder for people to buy in.
Yeah, and I mean, there are different ways of looking at it, right?
And I think a lot of it comes down to the overall faith that you have in the organization.
