Cody, I think we got to make the argument for why is he deserving of a contract extension in Denver?
Of course, he was one of the first players that George Payton re-signed when he became general manager in 2021.
Him and Tim Patrick both got deals there at the end of that 2021 season.
It really feels like Sutton is somebody that Payton prioritized from the beginning.
I even think back to
Remember when the Broncos hired George Payton and he took his son through the team shop and, you know, he's like picking out a jersey.
He's like, oh, I just left Justin Jefferson.
Whose jersey am I going to get now?
And, you know, George is directing him over to the Cortland Sutton jerseys, you know.
So this this would be a tough pill to swallow, I think, to move on from Cortland, especially how valuable he was to the team last year.
So let's talk about that value.
Why do you say he's worth re-signing if you're the Denver Broncos?
Well, I think I'm going to go the opposite direction here, and I'm going to say, what would re-signing Cortland say about the rest of the direction the team has taken this offseason?

You cut Justin Simmons.
You trade Jerry Judy.
Then all of a sudden, you're going to give Cortland a deal worth potentially upwards of $20 million a year.
