putting it together and uh as it got closer and we knew what the concept was gonna be, I ended up uh hiring these two women.

They were uh advertising students at the University of Illinois and I paid 'em two hundred and fifty bucks.

to come up with essentially an identity and they came up with uh five names.

Let me see if I can remember 'em.

One of 'em was Mr.

G's Pizza.

One was Allegro pizza, so it was uh Allegro means faster.

It's a musical term.

Uh one of 'em was Spot's Pizza.

And uh the logo that they drew up for that kinda looks like uh Dell Computers.

It was like a Dalmatian dog.

Let me see.

One was Roadrunner Pizza.

Uh, it had the logo of uh kind of a m a Roadrunner from the Southwest, not the cartoon Roadrunner, but that was a pretty cool one.

And one of 'em was Topper's Pizza.

So the idea of Topper's Pizza was that it was

better, you know, the logo the original logo was a top hat and where we were headed was we were gonna do unusual things on top of pizza.

So back in the early nineties, you know, there was basically ten pizza toppings.

You know, our idea was to take a page out of what California Pizza Kitchen was doing.

They had uh fifteen or twenty restaurants at the time and boy they were something else.
