And that's often ethically not only appropriate, but like

But but but in minimal risk studies, it doesn't have to be that way.
And uh the virtue of not having an uh consent approach is you get all comers and there's no selection effects.
So that's like a a totally differentiating feature.
But what we really were after is how do we understand in an experimental way?

We can't randomize people to get inpatient palliative care or not.
Like no one, no IRB is going to approve that.
And I mean I couldn't live with myself.
But we can randomize
Whether an intervention that increases the probability of palliative care delivery.
Is or is not administered to a given patient.
So that's what we did.
So that's the way to get at experimentally what previously had been based in just observational data, this whole notion that inpatient palliative care reduces length of stay.
Do we do we know that that's true?
Well, we needed to find out.
