uh medicine in a space that touches on patients with chronic serious illnesses that are more likely than not to be the cause of their death in the near term.
We need to
take opportunities to address that embedded default head on.
Because to not do so is to abandon our responsibility to
provide at least try to provide golden cordon care.

Uh so so we've done now two randomized trials.
Uh one a a pilot study and then a a larger study and a more diverse population.
Uh with longer follow up.
That
Randomized patients with chronic serious illnesses with limited life expectancies to who had not already completed an advanced directive to one of three versions of an otherwise identical state authorized advanced directive.
The uh sort of like control condition uh asked people to state their overall goals of care and their choices to receive or not receive things like CPR, mechanical ventilation, dialysis, feeding tubes.
Uh, those the main ones.
