Very good morning to you, Claire.
In Trump world, Claire, we don't know if this is a real plan or not.
There is an actual space force created in 2019 to bring together um elements for outer space that were under different branches of the US military.
Uh Donald Trump has always used it as a bit of an ego trip.
So he simply circulates this on True Social to kind of big himself up and look, look at these wonderful uniforms.
Now, the backstory to this or the story that people picked up on is that the uniforms bear a striking likeness to that worn by the troopers on the Death Star, which is not real, uh, but which was quite famous because it was in Star Wars.
And it's uh well, he used the phrase starship troopers without realizing that starship troopers uh that's a nineteen ninety-seven film by Paul Verhoven about a fascist state.
So I don't think Donald Trump was saying
Uh look, we're gonna turn US Space Force into uh an arm of a fascist state led by me.
I think he just simply post without any knowledge or deep knowledge of the topics he post about, and then he counts on the media to pick up on it.
No, I don't think he does.
Yeah, I mean it goes back to the, you know, you know, the imageries you think in your head of uh of German troops in World War II.
Uh there is kind of a a like a in in a mix, they do have an insignia that looks like it bears more to Star Trek uh than it does to to Nazi Germany.
But certainly the image is one that um has a specific historical reference.
But why do I think Trump was attracted to it?
Because it's quite intimidating.
It's quite an intimidating look.
It's quite a forceful look.
And you realize that he and you know the defense secretary Pete Heggs, they all, even though Trump was never in the military, they all promote this idea of this macho warrior culture, which simply is to scare and intimidate opponents.
And I think Trump simply liked the aesthetic of that.
