And then you negotiate around him.
And I think the Chinese are doing it.
I think European powers are doing it.
I think the Canadians are doing it as well.
There were indirect talks for the first time between Trump's envoys and the Iranian foreign minister.
And by indirect, I mean the Qataris were moving between them for about three hours.
That's the first time that we've had those talks since July when the U.S.
walked away from the memorandum of understanding.
But that is very limited.
It was sort of talks about talks.
And U.S.
officials are telling outlets today, notably the Wall Street Journal,
that the U.S.
will not return to the negotiating table.
And in fact, they're saying that the Trump administration will return to airstrikes after November's elections in the United States.
Oh, absolutely, because it means that he's not getting Trump's endorsement in what is going to be a very tightly contested election on October 27th, and I think one in which no bloc will have an overall majority.
But more specifically, I think what it shows is that the United States is proceeding on Iran without the Israelis.
No longer can the Israelis hope to get regime change in Iran.
But there is a paradox here.
As isolated as they were, and not just by Donald Trump, by almost every country at the UN, the Israelis are still expanding their occupations.
