And as a result, airlines have cheapened their product.
And they're in a mode now where if you want more space, because they've pushed seats so much closer together, if you want extra legroom, you got to pay more for it.
You know, if you want overhead bin space, you got to have early boarding.
There are all kinds of areas where you have to pay more to improve your experience because the price pressure has forced airlines to cheapen their products so much.
Yeah, there's a weekly fare watcher who I've trusted for many years.
And just recently, his weekly index has come down some.
And I think that reflects several things.
I think in some areas of the country, schools are back in session and the summer travel boom is winding down.
There are growing concerns about the Delta variant, and I think that's depressing ticket buying.
I think people are nervous about what's ahead and so not running out to buy tickets for fall trips.
And the other factor is business travel.
It just has not come back in a large-scale fashion yet.
And this is the time when people start planning their fall business trips, and so there would be normally ticket buying from business customers, and that's not happening.
And you add all that up, and at the same time, airlines are bringing more capacity back because they are getting the last of their airplanes out of storage.
And you end up with a situation where this can turn very quickly and airlines could have no pricing power at all because demand has dropped, supply has increased.
And here we go again with a bunch of really low fares because they have empty seats to fill.

And the whole reason why they bought that flight in the first place might be because it was a nonstop.
