And it's a pretty unique kind of league, the BCHL, and especially now and later.
Then he came back to the OHL and everything just clicked for him.
And he's been one of the very best players in the league all year.
And is without a doubt the number one center prospect in this draft class.
And in the process has leapfrogged Tynan Lawrence, who was kind of the placeholder number one center prospect in this class for the first couple of months of the season.
That's no longer the case.
Like Caleb's going to go in front of Tynan.
And he's going to be the first center taken.
And the idea of this sort of six foot one and a half, maybe six foot two center who can skate and make plays and is detail-oriented and cares about the face-off circle and is a potential penalty killer up levels and on and on and on.
There's a lot to like about what Caleb Malholtra is.
He doesn't have that dynamic quality that an Ivar Stenberg and certainly a Gavin McKenna have.
But once you get past those two forwards, he's right there in the mix as the third best forward in the draft class for me.
And there are people who believe that he's right in there in terms of the conversation with Gavin and Ivar.
Yeah, Carl's is a scout's favorite.
NHL folks love him and have loved him since very early on this season and even last year when he wasn't quite putting up the production in the WHL that a Dax and Rudolph did or that a Keaton Verhoef did or that even a Ryan Lynn did.
But you could see it was coming.
You could see that there was more there, and he always had the defensive foundation.
He was firmer defensively than those guys.
He was more physical defensively than those guys.
He kind of has this sort of strong, sturdy disposition to him over his skates.
