Well, it means for Democrats that they have to get much better at governing.

We have to get much better at actually governing.

We can't just let the whims of wanting to make sure that we're always on the right side of this and the right side of that dictate how we govern.

Because in some ways, I actually think the American people, for better or for worse, will hold Democrats to a higher standard.

And I've said this for a long time.

Trump voters hold him to a very low standard, right?

And they held Biden and Harris and Democrats to an incredibly high standard.

And part of that is due to the fact that Democrats are the party that are saying that we want to be proactive, right?

We want to do things and use the tools of government to address social ills, right?

And that's a great thing.

But...

no one's going to trust you to give them more of your tax revenue or to approve of a new program if you can't keep the border straight.
