On the local ASX, the benchmark closed up 1% to 8,878 points.
That's after 1.3% rise on Wednesday.
So that's a pretty handy couple of sessions for investors.
The material sector led the way yesterday.
BHP, Rio and Fortescue Metals are all up about 3%.
The energy index, not surprisingly, was the worst performer.

Gaming groups in Australia don't have a strong record when it comes to anti-money laundering rules.
Crown Resorts was ordered to pay $450 million for breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing failures.
And that was the good news story because compared to Star Entertainment, that's been a disaster.
That actually lost its license to run a casino in part over anti-money laundering breaches.
Its chief executive at the time, Matt Becker, was found to have broken the law for failing to confront the serious risk that junket operators were laundering money.
So it's been a real problem.
