And the lesson there was that if you put stuff in space and destroy stuff, you're not only going to destroy your friends, uh your enemies' satellites, you're also going to control destroy your own.
So uh in a way it's self-defeating um to actually start exploding stuff in space.
But the reality is that even now the Russians and Chinese, but particularly the Russians, have been developing satellites
That can sneak up on our uh communications satellite that can either jam them, can either actually intercept the messages, or in the worst case, grab the satellites.
So this stuff is already cutting edge, it's already happening.
We can just uh stick our head in a bucket of sand or recognize that this is the new frontier uh of warfare.
We're incredibly vulnerable.
I mean, if you look at anything on the land, we've got stuff that we if it's worth attacking, we're worth defending.
But largely in space, we are you know, um I've literally I live in remotely in the country, I've just moved house and I've had to take on a satellite-based um broadband.
Um and but whether it's you're um getting money out of the cash machines, whether it's the internet, anything, we are so heavily dependent on space now that any threat to that has a critical vulnerability for us.
And that's why this is all very topical.
The fact that every
always blaming the Americans for actually breaking cover.
The fact is they may not have any weapon in space.
Part of the thing is to deter uh foreign actors by admitting that they have, all it does is that sets a new bar.
And I think we we've got to accept the fact that we are so reliant on space, we need to be able to defend our access to it.
Well
The the the way you started that sentence though with President Trump, uh with so many other things, we have to take with a large pinch of salt what he actually says, because whether it's the wars in Iran
or whatever.
He he he doesn't the words he says don't always match exactly what's going on.
