For Andrew McCutcheon to be on this roster instead of Billy Cook in situations like that, to pinch hit in those type of moments... Oh!
Billy Cook pinch ran in the win against the Mets.
He made the game-winning catch against the wall.
He's a serviceable gentleman.
So you would rather have Billy Cook bad in that type of situation than Andrew McCutcheon?
Would you consider... Wait, who?
Like, if there was a pinch hitter that was coming off the bench...
For Jared Triolo, who is becoming the most polarizing figure of Pirates baseball in 2026.
Well, my point on McCutcheon, and especially with Marcelo Zuna starting off very slow, what does he have, one hit so far in three games, was that there was still a bench spot available for him.
It wouldn't have been a huge role.
It wouldn't have been a starting role.
And maybe he wasn't willing to accept that.
But based on what we know, and based on what Ben Sherrington has said, it basically has been, hey, the Pirates, we're just not interested in bringing McCutcheon back really under any circumstances.
And McCutcheon was ticked off by that.
But I think that in the same token, McCutcheon probably wanted to be here so badly where he would have been willing to accept a role like that.
Kind of like how Miguel Cabrera accepted it for one final run with the Detroit Tigers.
