Cronenberg is often thought of as sort of like an icy, detached director, and a lot of his movies are like that.
Crash is specifically like that.
Dead Ringers, I think, is a lot like that.
But the heart and soul of The Fly is the romance between Geena Davis and
Jeff Goldblum and they're both just so terrific in that movie and the themes of that just all work together just sort of perfectly into this crescendoing moment that is at once disgusting and heartbreaking at the end of the movie so basically I'm saying go see The Fly and I think it's on HBO Max right now

And if you could catch some of his other movies, do that as well, because they all are pretty interesting.
I did not mention some of his more recent movies, Cosmopolis, Eastern Promises and History of Violence.
Two of those are Viggo Mortensen movies in which he's fantastic.

And he's still making movies today.
I know he's in his late 70s, I think, but he had one come out last year, and he's working on another one now.
