success, a team that doesn't necessarily get beat up along the way.
And so I think we want to challenge ourselves.
We recognize the SEC, and I believe that we have enough experiences before we get to March Madness that when we enter that phase, that we'll have the experience and the notable performances and games that will allow us to compete for the top prize.
If you think that I just kind of threw the schedule out and kind of looked at it and, you know, hoping that we got it right, I would say that the reason that we're playing the schedule that we're playing is I will not lose a seed line playing that schedule.
That's one thing that I will guarantee you.
Okay.
You don't think – okay.
I'm going deep into the analytics.
Okay.
And when I go through the 31 games, 32 games, if we are a good team, the seed we're supposed to get will be there based on that schedule.
Trust me when I tell you, that's been well thought out.
And look, I'm not naive enough to think that, you know, could you play one more or two more, whatever you want to do.
You can do that.
But I think for the development of our roster –
And again, if you'd say what is the most important thing in college basketball today, I would tell you, Matt, retention.
If you can get a starter, an all-conference player, an elite player who's played deep in the NCAA tournament, who's been an all-conference player, who's been through the practices and the battles and knows what it feels like to play an SEC road game, and when you have four or five of those guys returning,
from a team that was in the Sweet 16, I think that's a different feeling than having just one guy back and then a lot of different guys that you believe in and you really feel good about, but you've never coached them and they've never played for you.
So I think some of it is here at the beginning of year two, kind of taking steps, not skipping a step and knowing this is who we were,
This is where we would have been a year ago.
We're going to be better.
