I think the only surprise is that it wasn't done during their international break, that they did wait until now.

one win in five, and I think the big thing so far this season has just been the amount of concessions, I think it's 33 goals conceded in 22 games, and just the manner of those concessions, like after a couple of games, Joey O'Brien has been absolutely incensed, like I remember talking to him a couple of times after games this season, and he's just, you know, almost lost for words on the manner of the goals they're conceding, and I think their first goal 30 seconds in, and that
3-0 defeat to Bose a couple days ago was the epitome of that, like two awful clearances and Bose take the lead.
But I think, yeah, almost a year to the day since he came in and Duffer resigned.
It started off pretty well and he was thrown straight into it, eventually led them to their first ever European group stage qualification.
So I suppose his name in Shell's history will be there for
forever as the first manager to lead them to that point in Europe and obviously the league phase there were a lot of missed points and didn't go as well as they would have hoped but yeah this season has been a struggle there's no getting away from that you mentioned there they're seven points off I think third but they're also in that kind of
middle ground where they're also i think seven or eight points off eighth so it's it's amazing in the league of ireland the difference and especially if you have a friday monday double header that there was the difference back-to-back results can make it could put you up two places it can drop you down two places um
So probably the only surprise is that it didn't come during the international break when there was maybe a little bit more time to find a successor.
But I think for a lot of Shells fans, it's probably not too much of a surprise just because, yeah, a lot of games this season have been a struggle.
