These aren't generally guys who don't back themselves to run from justice or not obliterate their rivals.

So why is Joaquin freely turning himself into American law enforcement and turning in Mayo, a guy he's known since childhood?

You can understand the outrage, I guess.

If this is some Sicario movie-style operation with HSI and FBI agents carrying out a kidnapping on Mexican soil, it is a massive breach of sovereignty, of course.

It is also a massively useful thing for Scheinbaum to wave around as her relationship with US President Trump disappears down the gutter.

According to security expert David Salcedo, it's something the Mexican government cannot, quote, let slide as it involves, quote, the capture of a Mexican national on Mexican national territory by United States agents.
