The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1020.202

I gotta be honest with you, this Thanksgiving, it was very minimal watching of any football. I have two kids, five and seven, and the time I have with them, we were in the pool, kind of goofing around in the pool, and then my father-in-law was kind of shouting at me from the living room going, that's another score, they're down 17-0.

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1038.846

So I was getting it from him, but I didn't really watch this year. I gave up on the Bears after they went four and four, and I figured we're going south here. So I tap out. Why waste my time with it? I mean, you know, guys like you, you got to watch sports and report about it. But for a fan, like for me, I'm not one of these guys that's going to take the team for four and 12 and watch every game.

If you're not showing me something from the beginning, I'm out.

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1088.311

no even if even if we got to the playoffs and we had home field advantage still you got i gotta be at the super bowl fourth quarter up by 30 then i'm in okay so they've broken you until now that's what you're saying like you cannot invest in this anymore yeah okay that makes sense but give the man a 30 point lead fourth quarter super bowl and he's back okay but but

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1122.76

I'm at the point now where I'm looking for another team. You know, I thought I would never say this, but, you know, I'm a Chicago guy, you know, and all my teams are Chicago from the Bulls to the Blackhawks to the White Sox. So I don't know. At this point, you know, I live in Los Angeles for 26 years. Do I adopt the Rams? Do I adopt the Chargers? I don't know.

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1143.533

But, I mean, I'm just tired of losing, guys, and I don't know what to tell you. He's quentin. That's it.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1396.075

No, you know, listen, I have been very blessed to have my dreams come true and make a living at doing stand-up comedy. When I'm home, I'm a family man first. I'm not one of these guys that's all about the career, although I do work a lot. But my family is very important to me, and the time that I do spend with them are very, very precious. Yeah, you know, it's difficult.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1418.28

You know, I kind of long for the days where I walked into a comedy club and, you know, no one really knew who I was and I had the challenge of kind of like winning them over. So now, you know, it's hard to maintain that level of excellence year in and year out, because I think when people come to the show, They're wanting to see equal to or greater than comedy that they saw the last time.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1440.742

And I put a lot of pressure on myself to kind of deliver that. But it's it's, you know, writing new material is very difficult and you could write new material, but it might not be as good as what you said two years ago. So I try to make it as as as as high as I possibly can as far as.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1459.762

making people laugh and uh i feel like this tour is some of the the best material i've done and uh really having fun with it you know sometimes uh i think last tour i was under the gun in regards to my health i had a sciatic pain on my right leg i couldn't be as physical as i wanted to but now after doing uh pilates And having that go away, I'm having a ball again on stage.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1523.76

Yeah, you know, I mean, this time around, though, I think, although it is a little taxing on the body, all these cities that I've been going to, I'm trying to enjoy the city a little bit more. I mean, sometimes you really don't have the time to really immerse yourself in the culture of the city that you're in.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1539.383

But, you know, we go to Virginia, and I find out, oh, there's a USS Wisconsin that's docked there. Let's take a tour of the Navy ship. Or, you know, you go to Naples, Florida. You know, let's go visit an old people's home. So whatever the city has...

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1553.445

to uh to enjoy i'm trying to definitely uh see some of the sights i took my kids to the empire state building they never been there when we were in new york and uh you know chicago going for pizza with my family my family's been with me more on this tour than ever before just because my kids are five and seven and these moments are fleeting you never know when you're gonna do the madison square garden again you know you know i

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1578.935

Listen, I'm one of these guys that lives in the negative. I'm not Mr. Positivity here where I'm like, oh, yeah, it's going to be greater the next time I go on tour. I look at this and going, I hope to God people come back the next time. So Madison Square Garden, I brought my kids on stage because I don't know if that's ever going to happen again. And I brought my mother and my father on stage.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1601.32

I'm happy that they're alive to even see what's happening. So we're all kind of enjoying the success and it's been fun.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1630.345

No, I never I never even thought that when I was just doing a show and there was someone ahead of me that was good. I never even thought like, oh, you know, I wish he was bad. I've always loved going on stage after somebody who killed it. It was like a challenge. I go, I got to keep the room going, you know. So I've always brought guys on the road with me who I felt that were, you

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1657.541

extremely funny, set me up great, got the audience in the cadence of laughing. People that kind of bring an opener who is, you know, subpar to me, it just feels like you're cheating the audience out of a great experience. I want I want the show to be great from minute one to the last minute.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1678.576

So for two hours, I want people to come in there and say, wow, we saw a really, really great night of entertainment, whether it be myself or the two openers. So, yeah, no, I don't fear that at all. I think if you're fearing people better than you or funnier than you before, to me, I look at it as a challenge. Weird question, Cody. Season two of Bookie premieres on Max, December 12th.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1722.563

I tried everything from epidural shots to cupping, to massage, to yoga. I started doing this thing called Legree Pilates. And within two months, I almost heard my body kind of readjust into place. It was almost like there was a bunch of cracking. I was like, oh, wow. And then after that, the sciatica gone. And if you're living with sciatica, there's no pain.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1744.682

I can't even explain the pain because it's so sudden and so sharp. and debilitating. Every morning I would get out of bed going, okay, is it gonna be gone by some type of miracle? And sure enough, walk into the bathroom, boom, it would just kind of collapse on the floor. So yeah, I would recommend Pilates to anybody dealing with any type of back pain.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1769.115

I mean, the amount of core strength it takes to do Pilates is unbelievable. My core to this day still is very weak, but definitely strengthening it by doing Pilates. So I hope you guys get a sponsor after this show from Legree Pilates along with DraftKings.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1812.879

So I had a guy walk on me with a walker before. Not the actual walker. I'm telling you, I've been everywhere. This guy would come over with a walker and put the walker kind of on top of me. And this guy wasn't, you know, a small guy. We're talking like six, one, two, 10. And he would take his big toe and like drive it right into my scapula.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1835.315

And it was, it was painstaking, but it didn't do really anything for the sciatica. He even went into the lower back and the legs and whatnot. So, yeah, I mean, I've, I've tried it all. I,

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1913.496

Oh, matinee, we do a noon show.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1946.748

Well, I mean, listen, I, I, my, my, my father was teaching Robert De Niro how to be him because the movie is about my father and never in my life would I think my dad would be in Mobile, Alabama, on a movie set teaching Robert De Niro how to do a dye job. So for me,

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1968.032

watching my father interact with de niro was was was something and i and the reason the bookie appealed to me opposite about my father because about my father i kind of played myself i did a pilot with tony danza about eight years ago where he played my dad i was just sick of playing myself and when chuck came to to me with this idea of me playing this character i was intrigued by it because i was like you know i'd like to play somebody other than just me and and challenge myself in that way i also

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

1997.788

I love that we're filming in Los Angeles. I get to see my family and sleep in my own bed. And I get to see Los Angeles in a way that I've never seen it before. You know, it's kind of a trip to be shooting at some of the places that I used to kind of go for a drink. We shot this Mexican restaurant and I remember going there in 1998 when I first moved to L.A. just to hang out and have a burrito.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2021.179

And, you know, fast forward 26 years later, doing a TV show scene at the near the same booth where I had dinner when I when I first came there. So, yeah, it's and it's quick. You know, the way Chuck moves, the way he does the show, it's like we don't sit there and do a scene, you know, 12 times. It's like he knows what he wants.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2042.394

As soon as he sees what what you know, what he likes, we move on to the next scene. So it's not a lot of repetition. And the days are short. You know, they're nine, 10 hour days. It's not like we're sitting there 16, 18 hours. So it's it moves that comedy has a pace. So I think Chuck being Chuck kind of knows that pace. And it's been a joy to do the show.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2091.223

Yeah, those moments where I get to bring my family up on stage or if I'm in the crowd and my wife is taking pictures of my kids watch me on stage, for me, that's definitely sentimental. I started this career in 1998 with just me. It was no wife. There was no kids. It was just me in Los Angeles. I drove out there with my sister. I knew nobody.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2114.579

I started working as a waiter at the Four Seasons Hotel. And, you know, to see it get to this point and then to share it with the people that I love the most is is really cool. So we could be in Madison Square Garden. We could be in Kansas City or Arizona, wherever it might be.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2134.178

If my family is sharing these moments with me, those are kind of the best moments for me, whether it be stand up comedy, having them visit the set of a movie or or what have you. So, yeah, it's it's been really, really cool. And I'm having a blast.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2163.103

I try to do like kind of age appropriate cities for my kids and not much to do in Las Vegas for a five year old.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

2178.303

Absolutely. Thanks for sharing your audience with me, and you guys have a great Christmas and Happy New Year. Nice seeing you again, sir. Take care.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

379.306

What is that? That's not me. I don't know. Listen, I know I'm early. Do your thing. No, no, you're good. No, you're here now.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

396.752

First, before I get into that, I need the take on everybody in studio on Billy's laptop with the stickers. At what age do we lose stickers on the laptop, Billy? What's wrong with the stickers? What's happening here? I don't know. The last time I had a sticker collection, I was four.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

433.045

I might be. I might be. It's 51, apparently, stickers. I'll send you some stickers.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

466.121

Billy, the moment is ruined. Oh.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

490.032

where are you you you i'm in i'm in naples florida i've been here for a week um at my in-laws house and uh if you know anything about naples florida uh everybody here goes out at five o'clock uh for dinner so uh i'm i'm in bed by 7 30 and it's still light out So I've been enjoying Naples, Florida for about seven or eight days, and I'm here until I get to Tampa.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

519.732

And it's heaven's waiting room out here. A lot of oxygen, and I'm the youngest out here by 30 years. Yeah.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

542.819

It's okay. I understand. It's a sensitive topic, and maybe the next time I come on the show, the stickers will be gone. It's going to make him think tonight before he goes to bed, what am I doing with stickers on my laptop?

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

628.804

listen let's get it let's let's uh truth be told nobody listens to my podcast uh so that i mean i'm not making my bones doing podcasting pete and i been doing the podcast for 12 years as like a labor of love so for for me podcasting doesn't translate into stand-up comedy it's two different things i mean it it's either you do stand-up comedy uh The way I did it was I just concentrated on stand up.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

657.131

So the whole time was stand up, going up, you know, going to to a bowling alley, going to a bar and just making my bones doing stand up. Yeah, these guys are doing podcasting and a lot of people are coming out to see them because I think they fall in love with the personality more than maybe the stand up. But nothing really has translated to my audience more than stand up comedy.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

681.523

So that's where I kind of focus all my efforts. Everything else, whether it be acting or podcasting or writing a book, is, I don't know, second tier for me. You've got to devote a lot of time to one thing to be good at it. So I just devoted a lot of my time to stand up.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

717.901

Yeah, I am working a lot. And, you know, being 51, sorry, Billy. You know, it's a little taxing on my body, the travel, especially in stand-up, going to all these different, you know, cities and different beds and whatnot. It's just taxing on the body. But this tour, I've been having a...

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

738.82

a blast on i've been doing this since july i got pete correale pat mcgann coming with me on the road which are two great comedians in their own right uh i'm doing it in the round it's uh i set the stage pretty low to the floor so i do have an intimate kind of setting as much as you can in an arena

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

758.947

And, you know, during the off time, I throw in a TV show like Bookie, which I've had a great time doing. Chuck Lorre came up with a great idea. I got bookies coming out of the woodwork everywhere I go. I'll be at the I'll be at the air one getting a smoothie and a guy come up to me going, let me be a consultant. I've been doing this for 30 years. So. The bookie is not dead.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

783.783

Although there's a lot of fan duels and DraftKings and what have you, a lot of people I've found in doing this show really, really love using a bookie because of the personal relationship, the kind of flexibility you have in regards to paying him or her back.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

800.53

And this show kind of follows and chronicles the life of a bookie who I think the connotation is the bookie is some guy who's 300 pounds and he's in his basement and he's going to break your legs. However, you know, bookie's got a wife, bookie's got a kid, bookie's got a mother-in-law. So we kind of tackle all those different areas of Danny, who I play on the show, and people seem to love it.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

846.789

So are you not using the bookie anymore? Have you went to this online? DraftKings.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

863.269

Only DraftKings.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

865.471

Guys, I'm surprised I was loud on the show with DraftKings being a sponsor. Well, we're also on Max.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

886.761

I think we've got to bring back a Ditka or someone with a vowel at the end of their name. I don't know what's going on with these Bears. Eber Flus looked completely stunned at the end of the game. Poor management. Listen, I'm not Mr. X and O's when it comes to football, but I do know that maybe you should call a timeout with 32 seconds left. But...

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

912.217

Yeah, it's just heart wrenching to be a Bears fan. You know, nothing to really cheer about since 85. I think we went to the Super Bowl in 07 with the Devin Hester kickoff return against the Colts. But other than that, you know, I think maybe they got to sell the team. I mean, we got to get somebody in there that. you know, doesn't make their money off football. I mean, I don't know.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

936.131

What do I know? I'm just a fan sitting there watching. And my father and I get on the phone every Sunday and complain that what are they doing? So I don't know. I think maybe a change of ownership would be refreshing.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz

Hour 2: "Yes And" with Sebastian Maniscalco

962.761

Where are you in your fandom? I'm going Jim McMahon. I started watching the Bears with Bob Avellini, if you remember who that is. But the 85 Bears from soup to nuts, I don't think you get a better. I mean, I love the Wilbur Marshall and Peyton, Sui. By the way, what happened to the fullback? Are we using the fullback anymore in the question?
