What we do know...
is that these voter suppression bills do just that.
They suppress turnout.
We know that for sure.
In the Shelby versus Holder decision, you know, the idea was, look, Barack Obama's been elected president.
We don't need these guardrails.
We don't need preclearance in Section 5.
And so they removed it.
And Ruth Bader Ginsburg said...
We're getting rid of our umbrella in the midst of a rainstorm because we're not getting wet.
And her words proved to be prophetic.
And it's important for me, I think, to underscore this because people see me.
Yeah, I got elected in Georgia.
That's true.
But what's also true is
is that the gap in racial voter turnout since that awful Shelby decision in 2013 has widened.
It has not narrowed and is widened twice as fast in the states that used to be under preclearance.
And so the evidence is there for anybody who wants to see it.
