UBS is one of Switzerland's largest private sector employers, with more than 30,000 workers based in the country.

And according to its CEO, plans to cap the country's population at 10 million people would hurt its business model.

Speaking at the Swiss Economic Forum conference yesterday, Sergio Amati expressed concern about the proposal, whilst acknowledging growing frustration about the country's foreign-born population.

If the plans were to be approved, Switzerland's population would have to drop by at least half to avoid reaching the 10 million ceiling by 2050.
