So, and then of course, when we get to autonomy, a big part of this is acknowledging that we, our understanding of emotions in my view is completely wrong.
We think that an emotion is just a response to a stimulus.
And then we don't take steps to uncover why are we really feeling that way?
I want to give you an example.
So Max, let's say you have this beautiful cat.
Have you ever shared the name of your cat?
Yes, of course, Delilah.
Okay, so Delilah.
I got to meet Delilah.
She's just delightful.
So it's a perfect name.
So let's say that you're on a work trip.
And then you hear that Delilah is really sick and she has to go to the vet.
And you really want to get back from your work trip to be with Delilah, but you can't.
And you feel guilty.
You feel so guilty that you couldn't be back with your cat.
So then you just carry the guilt and shame with you.
And you allow that to make you feel like less of a cat owner, cat dad, whatever, you know, and then it starts attacking you.
And you start noticing other areas where actually I fell short here and I wasn't able to be there for that.
And then you've just created this loop, this meta emotion loop.
