Are you set for that before you say to him, hey, do it in the big leagues in the middle of a pennant race when every game is life and death?

So I just think there's a lot of logic to how the Blue Jays have progressed with this.

They certainly want to keep the possibility alive.

How determined are they to make it happen?

I think that's the unknowable question right now.

Part of that is, will Trey Savage keep forcing their hand?

And based on how he's performed thus far, he just keeps making this a difficult or interesting decision for them.

And that's to his credit and ultimately to the Blue Jays' benefit that this is even a discussion point at this point.

I mean, it is everything you just said, Julia.

That's why he's an ace and that's why he's so well regarded.

The only thing to me that I think we learned is, okay, how is he going to look coming off on normal rest for the first time post-surgery, right?

Because that's the first time he's done that.

For me, I'm just more interested in the physical check marks with him.

And this is based on a number of conversations we've got over the years from guys who've come back from Tommy John.

What he's doing right now, the way that he's looked so far,

is really outlier-ish kind of stuff, right?

Not a lot of guys are able to come back from that procedure and all the downtime and be as sharp as he's been.

I think that he was great in the Milwaukee game, obviously great against the Marlins.

He had the one bad inning yesterday against the Reds, but then was able to recover against a lineup that,

it you look at it and really yeah they've got they've got something to build on there so uh i i think that to me is the key right now like what is he what is he doing physically to allow him to do this and maintain this uh because the stuff and the command and the presence and everything else it all looks like shane bieber
