People say, oh, no, you can't take it away because I planned for it.
It's like, yes, you did, but we will help you and we'll help the next generation.
But fundamentally, I think it is really a story for our grandchildren rather than for us.
It does.
But at the same time, if you look at our history, these changes can happen very fast.
So we had a compulsory savings scheme, a super scheme in the 1970s, only lasted about a year.
And then Muldoon canned it.
If we had hung on to that, we'd have a trillion dollars today.
So we would have been sorted, but we're not.
what we've had would have been a prosperous society, a society that had saved, that instead of being a country that doesn't invest enough, doesn't have enough capital, we would have had abundance.
So unfortunately, that ship has sailed.
But I guess the dancing Cossacks was also a moment that showed when push comes to shove, we can make big changes and we can do it relatively quickly.
And that's why we should start sooner rather than later, because the changes we want to make in the future, if we do it gradually, it has less of an impact on people.
You know, we're not going to make those big wrenching changes.
We can do it gradually.
But at the same time, you know, when I go around the country and I travel a lot around New Zealand, what I hear is a much more realistic assessment from the people of New Zealand on where this is.
People understand that the system is not sustainable.
Nobody believes the politicians when they say this is a sacred cow and it can never change.
Everybody knows at some point in time it will change.
I think there are two kind of policy choices.
