Back in the playoffs?
You could be back in the playoffs consistently in five years.
Five years.
Because the draft picks you have today, you need draft plus five to get everybody up.
Not just the first round picks, but the second round picks have to be in there too.
You need the depth.
It's absolutely critical.
So you're looking at five years for that team to be, like if you want to be where Montreal is, you're going to need five years.
And then to be really pushing up against it and be one of the top eight teams in the league, it's going to be seven.
It just takes that much time for prospects to develop.
So that when you're looking at a Z Boolean, when they're in their window, he's going to be 26, 27.
And that's, unfortunately, that's how long it takes for players to develop.
Yes, sometimes they develop faster, but like, you know, we have to really start, stop looking at the outliers and really look at the main core of the
you know, 85% or 90% of the players and how long they take to develop.
And that's just the way it is.
And sometimes you can expedite this process, but in all honesty, it's generally, I would suspect it's going to be five years to be a really strong team again.
But if you've got to be patient with your players and you have to do a much better job in player development, that's been in the Achilles heel of the Vancouver Canucks for a long time.
And it's nice to say you won an American Hockey League championship or Calder Cup,
But how many of those players realistically are actually going to play in the NHL above 200 games?
And then how many of those players, if they do make it, would you actually have on your roster on a playoff team?
